What to Expect
We know that walking into a church for the first time can feel like a lot. You don't know where to sit, what to wear, or what's going to happen once things get started. We want to take some of that weight off your shoulders.
When You Arrive
Our morning worship service begins at 10:30am, and you're welcome to come to Sunday school/Corporate prayer beforehand at 9:30am. We meet at 8130 Moneta Rd, Bedford, VA 24523. Parking is straightforward, and when you walk in, someone will be there to greet you and help you find a seat. Don't worry about what to wear. You'll see everything from jeans and boots to collared shirts and ties on a given Sunday.
What the Service Looks Like
Our worship follows an order of service that includes a call to worship, congregational singing, Scripture reading, pastoral prayer, and the preaching of God's Word. We sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs together, accompanied by piano. We keep the instrumentation simple because we want to hear the congregation sing. The songs are rich in Scripture and easy to follow, whether you've been in church your whole life or it's your first Sunday.
The sermon is the centerpiece of the service. Our pastors preach through books of the Bible, passage by passage, typically for around 40 to 45 minutes. The goal is simple: to understand what God has said in His Word and to apply it to our lives, all as we behold the glory of Jesus Christ. Expect the Bible to be opened, read, and explained.
The service runs about 60 to 75 minutes total.
The Lord's Supper
We observe the Lord's Supper on the first Lord's Day of every month. If you are a baptized believer and a member of a gospel-preaching church, you are welcome to participate with us. If that doesn't describe you, there is no pressure at all. You're invited to observe and consider how God is calling you to respond.
Kids in the Service
Our children worship with us. You won't find a separate children's program during the service because we believe that families worshiping together is one of the ways God shapes the hearts of the next generation. A nursery is available for your youngest ones, but children of all ages are welcome in the service. We're glad to have them there, wiggles and all.
Beyond Sunday Morning
On the first Sunday of each month, we share a fellowship meal together after the morning service. Every other Sunday, we gather again in the evening at 5:30pm for a time of prayer, praise and the preached Word, followed by a fellowship meal at 6:30pm. These meals are one of the best parts of life at Covenant Fellowship. They're where conversations deepen, friendships form, and the church starts to feel less like a place you attend and more like a family you belong to.
Come and See
If you're looking for a church that takes the Bible seriously, sings with conviction, and wants to know you by name, we'd love to have you join us this Sunday. Stick around after the service and introduce yourself. We are a church of Christ's people, saved by His grace, and you are welcome at His table and in our family.
